Cosmetic Surgery and Health care within the EU
Poland has been a member of the EU since 2004 and as a member they follow and adhere to all the set EU Guidelines just the same as any other Country in the European Union.

Polish Plastic Surgeons are of a very high standard. To classify oneself as a Plastic Surgeon in Poland, the Surgeon must first undertake 6 years of Medical training and then a further 18 months of general practise after Medical School.

The Surgeon must then complete a further 5 years of training to become a General Surgeon and complete a further 3/4 years in specialist training to become a Qualified Plastic Surgeon. The Surgeon is then classed as having a 2nd Degree of Specialisation and becomes a member of the Polish Society of Plastic Surgery. Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Medica travel only recommends qualified tested 2nd Degree Plastic surgeons. These laws and regulations have been used in Poland for 30 years and are now being introduced to other EU Countries.

Insurance cover within EU
As an EU Citizen you are entitled to free health care when you are abroad in an EU Country. To qualify for this you must carry a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which can be ordered for free from the NHS. This card will cover you for any additional treatments in the Public Health Sector should the need arise due to complications from surgery. Therefore you will get immediate free and necessary care, which is not available in none EU Countries such as USA, Thailand and Ukraine etc. All of the hospitals used have full co-operation and connections to the Polish NFZ.

What happens if there will be a complication when you return home?
In the unlikely event there is a complication on your return, you can follow the same procedure as if your treatment was carried out in England. Immediately contact Medica travel so that the problem may be assessed and then advice will be given on how to proceed. You can visit your nearest GP or Hospital if the matter is urgent and if necessary we will consult again in Poland.
