After your surgery

	In spite of the big operation the postoperative course is rather painless. At rest no pain is present but changes of position can cause some discomfort which is hardly prevented with painkillers.
	3-4 days of fatigue is common.
	The stitches are removed after 8-10 and after 14 days.
	You should sleep on the back for 3-4 weeks.
	The arms should not be elevated over the horizontal plane.
	Car driving is forbidden for 10 days.
	A sporting bra should be used all 24 hours during 3-4 weeks after removal of the bandage. Thereafter in the daytime for a couple of months (to prevent for pulling of the scars).
	Physical activities should be abandoned for one month.
	Transient anaesthesia of the nipples for 1-2 months is common. Numbness can stay permanently.
	Using skintape across the scars for 2-3 months should relieve tension on the scars.
	Sun exposure directly to the scars should be avoided for 6 months as to prevent for permanent hyper pigmentation and redness of the scars

What happens afterwards?
Day after your surgery, you are going back to your hotel, where you only take it easy and rest. You are allowed to eat and drink as usual. It is common that you are a little dizzy and don't feel so good after the general anaesthesia. The general anaesthesia can sometimes affect you up to three days after the surgery.

Next day is time for check up and dressing. After that you are allowed to go home if you want. You can also stay 8-10 days and remove your stitches or you can remove them at your medical centre where you live.

Three months after the surgery it is time for next check up. You can choose to go back to clinic or you can send pictures to your plastic surgeon.

Tape
After the surgery the breasts are taped and bandaged. Your should use surgical tape 1-2 months to relieve the pressure on the scars.

Anaesthetic and medicines
The doctor will describe you painkillers that you should use when you have pain. and anti inflammatory medicine for 5-7 days. Antibiotics is prescribed in some cases.
