PRK has been around for
10 years and is first of all used for low nearsighted and astigmatism. The eye
is first numbed of eye drops. A thin outer cell layer (epithelium) is scratched
from the cornea; then reshapes the cornea depending on the refraction error with
an eye laser. The eye makes a new layer of epithelium after 2-5 days after the
operation. After
the PRK, the patient's eyelid is taped and bandaged. The eye will stabilize after
3-6 months. The second eye is operated when the result of the first operation
is known. Read
