LASIK
(Laser ASsisted In situ Keratomileusis)

LASIK is appropriate for people with considerable short-sightedness (-1 to -9 dioptries) or farsightedness (up to +2.5 dioptries).

Bigger refraction errors are however unsuitable method because of the remaining part of the cornea will be too thin. An intracapsular lens can be used instead of laser therapy.

With the first part of the operation, a thin cut is done in the cornea with so called microkeratome and creates a flap which is folded back. Then the deeper parts of the cornea are treated by laser. The final part of the operation; the flap is folded back in position and cover the operated area.
