| In
a LASEK operation the epithelium is loosed from the surface of the cornea and
lifted a side under the laser treatment. The laser treatment is performed on the
top layer. After that the epithelium is moved back to its place. LASEK
is a newer method. Its combine the advantages from LASIK and PRK. Instead of remove
the cell layer that covers the cornea as in PRK or cut out a thin flap in the
cornea as in LASIK, the eye is bathed with special alcohol. The cell layer will
change that covers the cornea and you can make a flap out of it instead of cutting
in the cornea. The
recovering time is much faster than for PRK and little longer than for LASIK,
but the risks will possibly be lower than some of these methods. If the flap should
be cut entirely away or placed wrongly it is not important, because that it will
heal the same way as PRK. The second eye should not be operated before
the eye from the first operation has healed (at least one month waiting time). Read
