FAQ about Laser

How safe is it to have eye laser treatment on my eyes in Eye Microsurgery Centre in Warsaw?
The clinic is highly recommended in Poland and abroad. The clinic has during 10 year and over 8 000 patients and over 92% successful first time operation and close to 100% after the second operation. Only two cases during this 10 years' period has resulted that the patient has got worse vision and as a result has continued to wear glasses. However, you shall always account for there is always a risk with an operation, even if the risk is very small. The clinic has patient insurance.

How long does a qualification examination take?
Around two hours. It is a series of specialist tests by which we determine how big the defect is, the thickness of the cornea, etc. On basis of this examination the doctor suggests the best method of correction (LASEK, LASIK, EPI-LASIK). Since the examination involves application of pupil-dilating eye drops, you are advised not to drive vehicles or come back home on your own after taking the drops.

If I already have done an examination of vision for the eye operation?
You take your results from your earlier examination. However, you must always undertake the obligatory eye examination.

What happens if an extra eye laser operation is necessary, must I go back to Poland?
If an extra operation is necessary, you receive this for free up to 8 months after the first operation and 50% discount between 8 and 12 months after the operation. You must go back to the clinic in Poland.

Where do I do the check-ups?
First day after the operation, you will do the first check up. After that, you should make a new control after one week. This should be done in the clinic in Poland or by your eye doctor or optician.

Can I practise sports after a laser correction?
Yes, after a few weeks when your cornea stabilizes and visual acuity returns to the state as in the best correction. You may return to lighter physically demanding exercises in a week after the procedure. Still, you need to wait for a few more weeks to start doing exercises that require more effort. But, yes, after full rehabilitation you can safely practise sports.

What is upper the maximum age limit for laser vision correction procedures?
Basically, there is no such limit. It is agreed that a patient should be in generally good health (e.g. no diabetes, allergies, etc.). And this is health condition you can enjoy in your 40s as well as in your 60s.

Can eyelid plastic surgery disqualify me from laser vision correction
No, it is not a contraindication. But when scars on the eyelids forming after a plastic surgery are too thick, you might reconsider laser vision correction due to the fact that the eyelids will not shut. Anyway, you should always notify our specialist whether you had any plastic surgeries in the area of your eyelids.

Can I use a sunbathe after laser vision correction?
You can, but after six months after the procedure. This is roughly the time needed for the defect to stabilize fully.

How long after laser correction can I return to working with a computer (around 8 hours a day)?
After some 10 days, with intensive use of lubricating medications - especially when the patient works in air-conditioned rooms.

What is the highest defect that can be treated?
Laser vision correction helps patients with defects between -10 D and +8 D. With higher defects it is common that the operation has to be repeated in two steps. In these cases, the operation is performed one year after the first procedure. In the meantime, the patient wears corrective lenses.

Can I be blind?
There is no documented case that anyone should be blind because of this kind of procedures.

Why should I stop using lenses before eye examination?
If you are wearing lenses, the measurements can be misleading. You should therefor stop using lenses at least 2 weeks before an operation.

Why do I have to be over 21 years old to be operated?
The eyes have stabilized and are full-grown when you're 20-year-old. That means that if you do not have changed the strength on the lenses or glasses the latest years. Therefore, it's important that you take your eye receipt from the optician from 2-3 years back in time.

If something goes wrong, can I use lenses again on my operated eyes?
In most cases when the healing is over, you can use lenses.

Do I have to stop working when having Laser vision correction?
No, most patients return the day after to work or school.

Can I drive after the procedure?
You should wait with car driving one week after the Laser vision correction.
