complications and side effects

Normally teeth bleaching is a very safe method. However, do not exaggerate the bleaching! Too frequent bleaching can hurt the tooth's enamel and nerve. Always ask a dentist if you are not sure.

Shooting-pain
Shooting-pain is the most common side effect. This stops normally 1-4 days after the bleaching. Use Sensodyne tooth paste.

Irritation in the gum tissue area
The gum can be irritated if it comes in contact with the bleaching gel.

The tooth could become inflamed
If you have cavities, the bleaching gel can penetrate the inner tooth and cause inflammation. Always repair your cavities before you bleach your teeth.

Limitations

If you have many porcelain crowns or composite fillings.The fillings will not be bleached. Inform yourself how much it is to have them changed.
Amalgam fillings in the front teethThe teeth can be green. Replace the fillings before treatment.
Pregnant or breast-feedingThere are no researches if it's dangerous. Shall be avoided.
