What are the disadvantages with porcelain veneers?

The porcelain veneers could break or come loose
One of the greatest disadvantages is that the veneer could loosen or broke. Of course it happens when you at least want it. If a veneer breake, it is impossible to repair it. You must make a new one.

As soon you have cemented a porcelain veneer, you cannot change your mind
A part of the enamel is polished away on the front of the tooth and cannot be restored. However, crowns can be used if this happens.

When am I not able to use porcelain veneers?

There are occasions when you can not use porcelain veneers.

Inflammations in gum tissue area or tooth disease
You have to treat it first before you can use porcelain veneers.

If most of the tooth is gone is it better to use a crown instead.
Inefficient enamel on the tooth
If you bite very hard and grind your teeth (Bruxism)
